 Why Have Members?

By Federal charter, YWCA's are membership organizations.  In order to remain chartered, each YWCA must have a member base.

Besides allowing us to support our sister organizations and providing us with national, international and regional connections, your membership enables us to subsidize services and programs that are not covered by grants.

“When my brother mother and I first got here we weren’t scared because everybody let us know that we were safe and the best thing to do for us right now. We were treated very good while we were here, and we were very appreciative of that."

It's not what you get for your membership ...
... it's what we can give with your membership.

Give Locally .... Connect Globally

YWCA membership is power to create change.

As a member, you are part of a legacy of pioneers who have fought to achieve fair wages, safe workplaces, the right to vote and a ban on child labor. The YWCA continues to strive for a society free of discrimination based on gender, race, age, religion, culture or any other artificial criteria.

The YWCA is the world's first and largest women's movement, and is at work in over 90 nations to achieve the empowerment of women and peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people. In the United States, the elimination of racism is our primary national goal (our One Imperative).

The Lewiston/Clarkston YWCA is autonomous and builds programs and services in response to the needs of women and families in the community.
