The Purple Ribbon

What began close to two decades ago as a grassroots gesture of support for survivors and victims of domestic violence, has now become one of the most widely - recognized symbols of the battered women's movement.

Remember, while each October marks National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, domestic violence is not confined by calendars.  Last year alone, there were nearly 5 million reported cases of domestic violence in this country. October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Demonstrate your support for victims, survivors and advocates by wearing a purple ribbon, tie one on your car antennas, and encourage your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to participate in this awareness campaign by doing the same.  Send a message that there's no place for domestic violence in our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools and community.

Watch for purple ribbons being displayed around Lewiston and Clarkston during the month of October.
